Induction Furnaces

The induction furnaces manufactured by IDT are furnished with IGT/VFCR technology for the power supply.

This induction furnace is capable of processing ferrous and non-ferrous metals with a greater efficiency, it allows obtaining clean metals, free of gases and combustion products, and it provides a rapid melting, which implies that with an equal size it supplies a greater volume of daily production and improves environmental conditions of work, as it doesn’t generate fumes and it avoids excessive losses.

The operation of IDT’s Induction Furnaces ensures high performance and low cost of production. The application of this equipment allows saving $US30 per kilo of molten metal in comparison with a furnace that uses oil or coal.

Because of the achieved quality and innovation, the Induction Furnace generated by IDT obtained in 2002 the invention patent in the US.

Special inverters

In 2003, IDT patents in the European Union a Current Injection Inverter or Converter provided with a circuit whose alternating current’s (AC) generation frequency is adjusted by the resonance frequency of the load, cycle per cycle without delay. This patent complements the one obtained in the US and it insures the inventive development, leaving it protected for 15 years for its application in systems of induction furnaces for melting and the treatment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

"Because of the achieved quality and innovation, the Induction Furnace generated by IDT obtained in 2002 the invention patent in the US".

Selfresonance induction’s source

The company developed and patented in 2002 in the US, the auto-resonance induction’s source, patent Nº US 6.466.467 B2. This consists in a DC-AC power converter trained to operate at the resonance frequency of the load, formed by capacitors and an induction coil, adjusting cycle per cycle the operation frequency of the semiconductors that form part of the inverter, obtaining an optimum power transference process.

100% solid state device for controlling Direct Current (DC) motor in four quadrants

In 2006 in the US, the 100% solid state device for controlling Direct Current (DC) motor in the four quadrants was patented under nº 7.132.808 B1. Its innovation quality was given because of its DC – DC power converter that allows commanding a DC motor of connected series in the four quadrants without the intervention of electromechanical devices.

Surge arrester for industrial and home networks

In 2006, IDT developed and patented the Surge Arrester for industrial and home networks, found under the publication nº US 2006/0034031 A1 in the US. This electronic power device of repetitive operation allows clearing the overvoltage present in the electric networks and protecting the electronic devices fed from that network. It can be also applied to the protection of semiconductors in power converters.

Trackforce: Drive system for DC traction engines

In 2007, IDT successfully developed and patented in the US a technological solution designed and fabricated for the rail industry that enables the operation and control of the DC machines. This technology is called Trackforce drive system and was developed to operate with high efficiency and a high potential of control.

Trackforce represents an innovating development for the industry because it accelerates, brakes and regenerates the energy used by the machines. An unprecedented event in terms of traction engines.

The importance of this technological innovation was internationally recognized. With this new design all the trains of the world, if using this technological solution, could increase their power, regardless of their age, meeting efficiency levels as higher as the ones of the most modern trains that exist today.
